The Best Chowder in the WORLD!! No, seriously...

It's true! Truth be told, Pike Place Chowder in the beloved Pike Place Market, is home to the World's Best Clam Chowder, according to the 1997 (or was is '96) World Clam Chowder Cook Off, Public's Choice Award. This little hole in the wall restaurant can also be called a walk up counter, as it modestly hosts five tables in the main dining area, complemented by the counter overlooking the kitchen. However, don't let the line deter you. It's definitely worth the wait!

You can start with your traditional clam chowder, choose the festive red chowder, perhaps try the salmon chowder or for the discrimating of tastes-try the vegan chowder! All come in your typical sizes, but the best bang for the buck is the big boy and split for two. Each comes with the standard dinner roll, but the meal is anything but standard. Thick and creamy, as who wants a weak and runny chowder (?), and filled with perfectly cooked potatoes and our favorite clams...this is definitely a dish worth waiting for. Tip to spice it up? Try dabbing in a bit of Tabasco, or better yet, try the pepper brandy for a change.

The restaurant is located just east of the main drag of the market, so just head up hill and duck in the alley behind the Mexican market (with the chili's). There's also a few other places around to tempt the tastebuds, but those chairs will be filled on another blog coming up. For the meantime, take a friend, an out of towner, and show them the best chowder in the West! P.s. Can you bring me some too?
