Window to the West

This morning's choice: Frittata with spinach, mushrooms, onions, tomatoes, a side of potatoes and salsa.

The once drop-in breakfast, tea, and coffee Triple J's has "graduated" into a blossoming young sit-down breakfast, lunch, dinner and wine Oriel Cafe.

Still remnant of a Triple J's breakfast, the Frittata was a vegetable's haven - not overdone, not underdone, light and topped with cheese. Fitting for this window haven in the middle of downtown Kirkland - not overcrowded, not bland, quaint and with good service. A haven in the midst of a chilly, grey morning - a hazelnut latte. A haven with an oriel (French for bay window) - a pleasantly casual, bright, warm cafe fitting for small groups or individuals. A haven of familiar meals and tastes.

Aside from being a haven, the Triple J's graduate is still slightly wide-eyed and wet behind the ears - a bit too safe and undaring.

As for Oriel's dinner menu . . . we'll have to wait to see if this old-new restaurant/cafe makes the grades during the next exam.
